Preview of Intelligent Vehicle Launches from Li Auto, Geely, and BYD Post-2025 Shanghai Auto Show

The 2025 Shanghai Auto Show has just concluded, marking the end of a recent wave of major new car launches and debuts. However, some brands opted not to follow the crowd. The refreshed intelligent versions of the Li Auto L6/7/8/9 series chose to officially launch during the post-auto-show lull, which could be a smart move for product marketing and visibility. Meanwhile, Geely’s Galaxy brand is set to introduce its new flagship sedan, the Galaxy Xingyao 8, and BYD’s Seal 07 DM-i will also hit the market soon. In this preview, we’ll give you a heads-up on these upcoming models. If any of these vehicles pique your interest, stay tuned for our follow-up coverage on their official launches.

During the Shanghai Auto Show, the Ideal L6 Smart Refresh Edition announced its pricing and opened for pre-orders, with the two models maintaining the same prices as the current versions at 249,800 yuan and 279,800 yuan respectively. Previously, the application images for the Smart Refresh Editions of the Ideal L7, L8, and L9 had already been released. On May 8, the Smart Refresh Editions of the Ideal L series will officially launch and open for confirmed orders.

The refreshed version of the intelligent driving model features a new, more compact LiDAR. In terms of intelligent driving hardware, the AD Max variant will be upgraded from dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips to a single Thor-U chip, with Thor-U being NVIDIA s latest intelligent driving chip. Beyond achieving an end-to-end + VLM large model, a more powerful VLA large model will also be introduced. The VLA model integrates the end-to-end and VLM models into one, incorporating visual language and action models. It supports full-scenario NOA (Navigate on Autopilot). Additionally, the AD Pro variant will transition from the Horizon J5 chip to the Horizon J6M chip. This model will also gain LiDAR and undergo comprehensive upgrades in active safety capabilities to match the AD Max variant. However, its intelligent driving assistance features will remain limited to highway NOA.

In terms of powertrain, the refreshed versions of the Li L6, L7, L8, and L9 remain consistent with the current models. All four models are equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged range extender codenamed L2E15M. The L6 delivers a combined power output of 300 kW, with a CLTC pure electric range of 212 km. The L7, L8, and L9 each offer a combined power output of 330 kW. For pure electric range, the L7 achieves 225 km and 286 km under CLTC conditions, the L8 offers 225 km and 280 km, and the L9 provides 280 km under the same testing cycle.

The BYD Sea Lion 07 DM-i has already opened for pre-sales, offering three configurations with a pre-sale price range of 189,800 to 229,800 yuan. The vehicle will be equipped with fifth-generation DM technology, the Eye of the Gods advanced intelligent driving system, and the Falcon in-vehicle drone system, among other features. The Sea Lion 07 DM-i Intelligent Driving Edition adopts the Ocean Aesthetics design concept, with its E-shaped headlight cluster seamlessly connected to the lower light strip, creating a striking visual width. At the rear, it also features a full-width taillight cluster, where the gradient dot-matrix light sources progressively decrease in size and are darkened to enhance the sporty appeal. In terms of dimensions, the new model measures 4,880 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,750 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

The Sea Lion 07 DM-i adopts the new Ocean Aesthetics design concept. Its Glacier World dashboard features a symmetrical layout, with a black panel spanning across the entire dashboard, embedding a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument cluster that complements the 15.6-inch floating touchscreen, delivering impressive visual appeal. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with the advanced Smart Cockpit-DiLink 100 system, supporting AI-powered full-scenario intelligent voice interaction and integrating the DeepSeek large model. Notably, users can create a personalized cockpit through the ONE ID account system. Upon entering the car, the system automatically loads the user s customized settings, such as seat adjustments and theme preferences.

In terms of powertrain, the Sea Lion 07 DM-i is built on BYD s fifth-generation DM technology and will feature a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5T engine and dual electric motors. The engine delivers a maximum power of 115 kW, while the front and rear motors offer peak outputs of 200 kW and 150 kW, respectively. Additionally, the manufacturer claims the vehicle can achieve a combined range of 1,320 km on a full tank and full charge, with a CLTC pure electric range of up to 150 km.

The Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 will officially launch on May 9. The vehicle has already opened for pre-sales, offering seven variants with a pre-sale price range of 139,800 to 173,800 yuan. The new model will be equipped with the Thunder God Super Hybrid System, the Qianli Haohan Intelligent Safety Assisted Driving System, and more, targeting competitors like the BYD Han DM-i. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 5,018 mm in length, 1,918 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,928 mm and a drag coefficient of just 0.25, positioning it as a mid-to-large-sized sedan. The roof features a LiDAR sensor and will include the Qianli Haohan Intelligent Safety Assisted Driving System. Notably, this autonomous driving system will offer multiple tiers—H1, H3, H5, H7, and H9—with the highest H9 tier providing urban map-free NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) and highway NOA capabilities.

The new car s interior features a central floating square screen, an instrument display, and a heads-up display system, all standard with the Galaxy Flyme Auto (equipped with the Snapdragon 8295 chip). Additionally, the rear seats are executive-class, fully equipped with ventilation, heating, and massage functions, along with a 23-speaker Flyme Sound boundary-free audio system. In terms of powertrain, the vehicle will be available with two plug-in hybrid systems: EM-P and EM-i. Their corresponding engines deliver maximum power outputs of 120 kW and 82 kW, while the electric motors offer 160 kW and 175 kW, respectively, resulting in combined maximum power outputs of 280 kW and 257 kW. The CLTC pure-electric ranges are 130 km and 60 km, with a comprehensive range exceeding 1,500 km. (Text/Autohome Yao Yu)
