Spy Photos and Details of the New NIO ET5 Revealed - Exciting Updates on Design and Features

[Autohome Domestic Spy Shots] On May 7th, we obtained a set of spy photos of the new NIO ET5 from the internet. According to previous information, the vehicle adopts the NT2.5 platform, which, compared to the current NT2.0 platform, features a horizontal center screen and a steering column-mounted gear selector similar to the ET9. However, NIO has not officially commented on the NT2.5 platform. The car will be equipped with NIO s self-developed autonomous driving chip and is expected to launch between May and June this year.

From the recently revealed spy photos of the actual vehicle, the new NIO ET5 primarily features adjustments to its exterior details, presenting a more rugged overall appearance. Specifically, it has been equipped with slimmer daytime running lights, while the edges of the lower headlight assembly have been redesigned to adopt a more rectangular shape. Combined with the closed front grille and larger air intakes compared to the current model, these changes create a strong visual impact.

As a minor facelift model, its side profile remains largely unchanged from the current version, with more wheel designs expected to be offered for user selection in the future. The rear section also sees minimal adjustments, featuring a slightly raised ducktail spoiler and a full-width taillight cluster that ensures high recognition.

Compared to its exterior, the interior changes are more significant, primarily featuring a new horizontal center control screen and a column-mounted gear shifter, further optimizing the storage space in the center console island. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with dual wireless charging areas for smartphones and repositioned dual cupholder slots, catering to users daily needs. In terms of intelligent driving, according to previously disclosed official information, its autonomous driving chip will undergo an upgrade, adopting NIO s self-developed chip. A single chip delivers performance equivalent to four flagship industry chips, boasting efficient computational processing, flexible task scheduling, and a heterogeneous multi-core resource pool. It natively supports safer and more complex algorithms, providing higher computing power and execution efficiency for advanced autonomous driving.

In terms of powertrain, the current NIO ET5 is equipped with dual motors featuring a front induction asynchronous motor and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a combined power output of 490 horsepower and a peak torque of 700 N·m. For the battery, it offers 75kWh and 100kWh battery packs, providing a range of 560 km and 710 km, respectively. Regarding pricing, the current model is priced at 298,000 yuan and 356,000 yuan, while the Baas version starts at 228,000 yuan. The 75kWh battery pack comes with a 70,000-yuan discount and a monthly rental fee of 728 yuan, whereas the 100kWh battery pack offers a 128,000-yuan discount with a monthly rental of 1,128 yuan.
